* An educated opinion

April 13, 2010

Doug Glanville is a busy guy these days. Not only does he have a new book out (From Where I Stand; quite good, look for a review soon), but he’s recently joined the staff on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight.

He still managed to find time to contribute this list of his favorite baseball books to The Daily Beast. Among his few and chosen:

  • The Long Season, by Jim Brosnan
  • The Complete Game, by Ron Darling
  • Safe at Home, by Alyssa Milano (whaaa?)
  • Three Nights in August, by Buzz Bissinger
  • I Had a Hammer, by Hank Aaron
  • Juiced, by Jose Canseco

It’s worth noting that most of these titles were ostensibly written by players and the Bissinger book is a serious look at the game. All the more curious that Milano’s piece of fluff makes it on Glanville’s list.
