Analysis: Josh Hamilton had an apparent setback several months ago that’s just coming to light, “thanks” to the sports gossip site, Deadspin. Haven’t read any of the stories myself, but wouldn’t be surprised if they mention his book and, if that’s the case, this might account for renewed interest.

Satchel ranks # 25 on the latest NY Times’ bestseller list.

Interesting new entry to the top 5: The Macmillan Baseball Encyclopedia. The last edition came out more than 10 years ago, supplanted by the similarly defunct Total Baseball Series. Macmillan was the granddaddy of such baseball reference. Imagine the delight of fans when it was first came out in 1969. Nothing like it had ever been ever been published before. Of course, now we’re spoiled with instant-information always available and updated. It’s like trying to explain to the grandkids about the Sony Walkman or color TV.
