* I wonder if Gibson will knock Jackson off the podium?

August 14, 2009

Here’s an unlikely project, due out next month from Doubleyday:

Hall of Famers Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson have collaborated on Sixty Feet, Six Inches: A Hall of Fame Pitcher & a Hall of Fame Hitter Talk about How the Game is Played, written with Lonnie Wheeler, whose previous boosk include Hank Aaron’s autobiography, I Had a Hammer, Gibson’s 1994 Stranger to the Game, and other sports titles.

Sixty Feet is listed at 288 pages; I’ll be interested in seeing the sales on this one. The topic seems pretty narrow and meant for the type of reader who pick up Keith Hernandez’s If at First and similar titles.

The duo will be signing copies of their book on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Barnes & Noble on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan, starting at 12:30 p.m.
