* Review: Born to Play: My Life in the Game

July 22, 2009

This review comes from Sawxheads, a Red Sox-centric blog. And guess what? It’s a glowing review!

But the part that caught my my was this:

In the interview with WEEI, Pedroia’s words were very encouraging. He spoke about writing this book for every generation, and it speaks volumes to all the little leaguers wearing #15 jerseys.

“I kinda wanted to get my story out to kids, saying if that guy can do it, then so can I. Maybe there’ll be a volume two a few years down the road.”[emphasis mine]

Now I’m certainly not wishing Pedroia any ill will, and I’m sure his current book is quite inspirational (haven’t read it yet), but let’s not put the cart before the horse here. There are enough Rookies of the Year (Joe Charbonneau) and MVPs (Jeff Burroughs) whose careers didn’t exactly end up as they had envisioned. Love the commercial though.
