The BA March 23 issue serves as the preview for what is almost a trade publication. As always, the whole issue is devoted to baseball, but only part is devoted to a look ahead.
Their “Fearless Forecast includes:
ALDS: Red Sox over Twins, Yankees over Angels
NLDS: Mets over Dodgers, Cubs over Phillies
ALCS: Red Sox over Yankees; NLCS: Mets over Cubs
World Series: Red Sox over Mets
- Team capsules have on a minimalist look, with only “quick take,” “In the spotlight” and “next all-star” listed.
- Top 25 rookies
- Five new faces in center field
- A very interesting look at the evolution of the strike zone and one on players no longer considered “prospects” but still trying to break into the bigs.
- “Reflections on a busy winter…” is a recap of all the doings since the end of last season
Grade: a qualified B. For a publication that prides itself on baseball news, the two-week period seems an anachronism in the Internet age.
