* Ventura (Jesse, not Robin): Indict Selig for steroids

February 17, 2009

“In the early ’90s, the federal government came into pro wrestling and tried to put (WWE Chairman) Vince McMahon in prison for steroid use of wrestlers,” Ventura told NBC’s affiliate in Denver. “My question is: They’ve now determined 104 baseball players failed their steroid test in 2003 — 104. They indicted Vince McMahon, why aren’t they indicting Bud Selig? He’s the head of baseball, it happened on his watch.”

In the words of that esteemed philosopher, John McEnroe:

“You have got to be kidding me!”

Is Jesse “the Body Governor” Ventura really trying to equate baseball with “pro” wrestling when he calls for Commissioner Selig to be treated the same as Vince McMahon? I may not have all the information, nor am I happy with baseball’s current regime, but I would find it hard to believe that Selig gave his unofficial “okey-dokey” as did McMahon.

At the risk of sounding too sentimental, for Ventura to mention wrestling
in the same breath as baseball makes me wonder about the people of Minnesota who gave him such a public platform.

I’m just sayin’…

Bud knew and did nothing. A good leader knows what is going on, especially if it goes on for such a long period of time, he had to hear whispers and rumors and chose to do nada, because attendance was up and life was good.

Bud’s statue at Cooperstown will have his head looking the other way.
