Authors appearance

Baseball authors Talmage Boston and Milton Jamail are among confirmed guests for the third annual Central Texas Mid-winter meeting organized by the Rogers Hornsby Chapter of the Society of American Baseball Research. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 in Room 320 of Old Main on the campus of Texas State University.

Boston is author of the just-released Baseball and the Baby Boomer : A History, Commentary, and Memoir (Bright Sky Press) as well as 1939 : Baseball’s Tipping Point (BSP, 2005).

Jamail is the author of Full Count: Inside Cuban Baseball (Southern Illinois University Press, 2000).

Larry Dierker, former pitcher, manager and broadcaster with the Houston Astros and author of
This Ain’t Brain Surgery: How to Win the Pennant Without Losing Your Mind (Simon and Schuster, 2003; reprinted by University of Nebraska Press, 2005; excerpt here) and Choosing My Dream Team from My Forty Years in Baseball (Simon and Schuster, 2007, excerpt here), is also scheduled to speak.
