* "William Blake?" "This is your post?"

December 16, 2008

An amazing piece of cinematic coincidence.

Now compare that scene with the one in Costner’s Academy Award-winning Dances With Wolves in which his character, John Dunbar, and his drover, Timmons (the late Robert Pastorelli), argue abut the sagicity of remaining at Fort Sedgewick. The dialog is provided by script-o-rama.com:

Timmons: There ain’t nothing here, Lieutenant.

Dunbar: No, not at the moment. We don’t know what’s happened.

Timmons: So, so…things being as they are, we might as well turn around and get headed back.

Dunbar: This is my post.

Timmons: “This is my post?”

Dunbar: This is my post.

Timmons: “This is my post?” Jesus H. Christ. What, are you crazy, boy?…. Lieutenant…. Fast son of a bitch.

Dunbar (now brandishing his revolver at Timmons): This is my post.

Timmons: Put it down.

Dunbar: And these are the post provisions. Get your ass off the wagon
and help me unload.
