* Further proof that baseball readers are everywhere

September 17, 2008

In this article from Daily Yuriumi Online, Yoshinobu Furumoto discusses the process of writing a biography about his father,  who pitched for a Japanese-Canadian team in the early 1900s. It’s an interesting story of discovery and family roots that transcends nationality.

In the end, the book, titled “Bankuba Asahi-gun” (The Vancouver Asahi), by Ted Y. Furumoto, was published by Bungeisha Co. in May. Furumoto’s pen name is a combination of his own and his father’s name.

Hello Ron,

I read the same Yomiuri news article as you did on Ted Furumoto’s book about the Vancouver Asahi. I ended up translating it into English, and an agent is curretnly shopping the book. A documentary program will be airing about Ted Furumoto and the Vancouver Asahi on Japan’s Fuji TV. Hopefully this year you’ll be able to review the book!

Best regards,

Toni
