* Baseball history lessons you might not find in the books

From AskMen.com, five obscure facts (well, perhaps for those who visit such Web sites, rather than read about the game):

  1. Early MLB teams were not distinguished by their jerseys
  2. Jackie Robinson was not the MLB’s first black player
  3. The MLB has a long tradition of cheating
  4. The MLB’s rules used to allow one side of the bat to be flat
  5. Some of the MBL’s biggest names were “banned for life”

Another interesting fact – until the 1950s, players used to leave their gloves in the field, and would simply pick them up after their turn at bat.
