* Announcement: In the Big Inning

April 9, 2008

Former pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles Jon Burnham was transformed from an egotistical, foul-mouthed baseball player headed for hell into an obedient servant of God. The author of The Winning Pitch chronicles his story of what God did in his life and the lives of many people who came to him for Biblical counsel.

Read the rest of the press release here. According to his bio on familyfocususa.com, he “signed” with the Orioles (there is no mention of him on the very extensive baseball-reference.com), which is not the same as being a “former pitcher for the… Orioles” (unless you want to say that by pitching in their minor league system, he was actually pitching for the parent club by extension.)

Dear Ron, You say “According to his bio on familyfocususa.com, he “signed” with the Orioles.” You leave out what I put in to show why I’m not in the extensive baseball references.com. I went to the Baltimore Oriole Stadium and pitched from the mound with Brooks Robinson on third as I pitched to want a be hitters hoping to land a contract. I was signed by the Oriloles and was farmed out as I mention in the book. I was proud to have signed and I make no bones about being a minor leaguer. My hat is off to every “Big Leaguer” and I certainly didn’t mean to imply I was one of them. That’s why I said I signed with the Baltimore Orioles “Organization” indicating my pride in having signed with them. I would appreciate re-wording your opening comments to reflect my actual intent in mentioning it as I did. Thank you Ron. God bless you and your striaght forward style.
