I was listening to my podcast of ESPN’s Baseball Today and though I heard the word “great” mentioned several times in proximity. So I replayed Peter Pascarelli’s show of March 24 and these are the findings.
- “Great” appears once in the introduction montage of clips from interviews.
- Pascarelli uses the word 5 times in the first two and a half minutes
- By the 4:52 mark, he’s used it 10 times
- He employs the adjective three more times before an interview with Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki at the 6:55 mark. The word is not used during the conversation, but since the the host can’t control his guest’s remarks, you almost have to weight that time.
- In the final moments of the show, Pascarelli answers e-mails. Things pick up as he uses “great” 7 more times.
So, my count — and I might have missed one or two — comes to 21 times (including the intro) in 15 minutes.
Somebody get that man a thesaurus.
